OUR STORY
Undying Passion for Africa
Cambium Safaris began in 2020 as Jack Anderson’s lifelong dream of becoming a Professional Field Guide and Safari Operator came to fruition. We live by one simple philosophy – “Look to this day, for it is life.” Jack has been traveling to Africa since high school and fell in love with the continent after experiencing an overlanding safari through Namibia. Because of Jack’s experience in Africa, we are able to offer exclusive access to protected areas and provide the highest quality guides in Botswana. We are a boutique Safari Operator, and every trip is designed with the individual in mind. This level of detail is possible because Jack personally oversees and carefully curates all itineraries with your dreams in mind.

Cambium or Cambia are the veins in a tree or plant that transport the energy produced by leaves through photosynthesis down to the roots, and all of the water absorbed through the roots by active absorption up to the leaves. Without the Cambium layer, a tree or plant cannot survive. Our guided wilderness experiences are about reconnecting to the earth, each other, and ourselves. We offer our guests the opportunity to experience this incredible wilderness in an array of bespoke styles, ranging from your classic game drives, plying the veins of the Delta in a traditional mokoro, and tracking both predator and prey on morning and afternoon bush walks.
Learning How to Walk (all over again)
After graduating from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2017, Jack Anderson stepped off the graduate stage and boarded a plane for South Africa to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a professional field guide. Jack graduated guiding school at the top of his class and continued working as a guide, clocking 600+ hours walking, and logged over 120 potentially dangerous game encounters. Jack specializes in walking with potentially dangerous game such as Lion, Cape Buffalo, African Elephant, Leopard, Cheetah, Hippopotamus out of water, and Hyena at night. Jack’s deep love for the bush and passion for safari grew immensely during his time in Africa until returning home to Houston, Texas, in 2019. Shortly after his return to the States, Cambium Safaris was born.

Look to this day,
for it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and varieties of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The Glory of power –
For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
